This well-preserved historic powder horn is a classic example of early firearms equipment, crafted from a naturally curved animal horn and used for the storage and dispensing of black powder. The horn features a faceted wooden stopper at the spout, designed for secure handling and controlled pouring, along with a fitted wooden base plug at the wider end.
An iron suspension ring remains intact at the base, still retaining its original cord, allowing the horn to be worn or carried during use. Subtle tool marks and surface abrasions are visible throughout, consistent with hand-finished construction and long-term historical use.
