Description
Cette ancienne statue de Bouddha thaïlandaise en bois doré représente l'une des formes les plus emblématiques de l'art bouddhique d'Asie du Sud-Est. Sculptée à la main dans le bois et richement ornée de feuilles d'or et d'incrustations de verre, la statue dégage une aura intemporelle de paix et de dévotion.

Représenté dans le Bhumisparsha Mudra (geste de contact avec la terre), le Bouddha invite la Terre à témoigner de son illumination sous l'arbre de la Bodhi. Chaque détail sculpté — des lobes d'oreilles allongés à l'ushnisha (couronne de sagesse) en passant par l'expression sereine du visage — traduit l'illumination, la compassion et la victoire spirituelle.

Acquise au Japon lors d'une expédition de collectionneur en 1980, cette pièce sacrée est depuis restée entre des mains privées, préservée à la fois comme œuvre d'art et comme objet de dévotion.
